What is your returns policy?
Returns are accepted only for broken or inherently defective merchandise within thirty (30) days of purchase. For example, TIMKAT will not accept a return for a CD whose jewel case has been minorly smashed or cracked, but whose CD/media plays well in spite of the cosmetic defect; in fact, TIMKAT may offer send the customer a replacement jewel case at no additional charge. TIMKAT will take every measure possible during packaging to ensure that the product arrives to the buyer as defect-free as possible but cannot accept responsibility for activities that occurred in-transit by the shipper.
Should the product(s) be found to be inherently defective (deep scratches on the CD, CD is completely unplayable in any player - computer or regular deck), within thirty (30) days of purchase, TIMKAT will fully refund (minus shipping) the product via PayPal or Google Checkout and will notify the buyer of the date of the refund.
Regarding live performances, cancellations are accepted with no penalty up to 7 days before the scheduled performance; if the date is cancelled by the customer, TIMKAT will assess 50% of the quoted booking fee.

In your company logo, who is in the black and white photo with the trumpet?
That picture is of our co-founder, Mr. Tim Ballard, taken in 1967 when he was just 19 years old at a professional gig in Kansas City, MO. We have always loved this photo and as booking agents, we use it to remind us that everyone starts somewhere, and often, the greatest talent is often found in the most unlikely of places -- not always in New York, Los Angeles, or London!

How do you grade "USED" items?
Our scale simply works like this:
EXCELLENT (LIKE NEW) - Not a scratch or tear on it. Item might have been removed from its original packaging or shrink-wrap removed. Outside of that, one could not tell the difference from a Brand New item. Basically like buying the "floor model" of something to avoid paying extra. You could even frame it or put it out on the coffee table to start a discussion; it just looks that good.
GOOD CONDITION - Middle ground of the conditions; the media or item is playable, but it's evident that someone gently loved it before you found it. Minor scratches and/or cracks could be visible on the case or media, but the goods inside have been 100% useable.
ACCEPTABLE -- This is usually reserved for an item where the outside cover, label, case, etc might have seen better days, but the media inside is still 100% playable / useable. It just means that this isn't likely to be a piece that you proudly frame or put on your coffee table for discussion. You own because you love what's inside.
POOR -- Not applicable. We don't sell anything in "poor" condition. This isn't a garage sale.

What does your company name mean?
When Kathryn started the company in 2007, she thought for a long time about a cool name that would encompass all the dreams and plans that she and her father made around an entertainment company, and finally settled on an amalgamation of both hers and her father's (Tim) first names: TIMKAT.
Ironically, after the name of the company was established, she found out that this same word refers to a HUGE festival for the Epiphany celebration in Ethiopia (first week of January), and after that, she was convinced that the name was perfect.

What is a Japanese 'mini-LP'? Is it a CD or a real vinyl LP?
Simply put, a "mini LP"is a COMPACT DISC that has been packaged in a heavier cardboard or paper cover to replicate exactly what the original vinyl LP's cover looked like. Contrary to most CD releases, there is no jewel case; instead, the media slides in/out of the cover from an opening on the right side of the cover, just as a vinyl LP would, and features a small sash or an "obi" on the left side, depicting three major pieces of information:
1. Retail price (in Yen)
2. Retail price (in Yen, plus tax)
3. A "Sell Date", which tells Japanese retailers that up and until that date, the product *must* sell for the retail price printed on the label. After that date, the seller may set any price that he or she chooses.
The practice of packaging attractive mini-LPs originated for sales in Japan, where the cover art and liner notes are a thing of beauty, and has become a unique collector's item around the world.
As with anything deemed rare or valuable, mini-LPs are also prone to be counterfeited and sold on major auction sites such as e-bay. TIMKAT Entertainment is a proud member of MINILPS.net, a independent site that uses experts from around the world that own the 'real' exported mini-LPs and can help others to spot fakes. We are committed to supporting sites such as minilps.net to slow the proliferation of fakes on the Internet and are registered users there.
Should it be found that we have made a mistake, and your mini-LP is deemed to be counterfeit, TIMKAT will accept a return and give a refund of the item, should the customer warrant it. We are not interested in bootlegging fakes, as we are avid jazz fans too, and wish to help to preserve the value of these very cool pieces of art and music.
